The Mac OS X version has several known bugs and issues. For late breaking bug info including possible work-arounds, please see our wiki: http://wiki.xowave.com/. XO Wave is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger") and Mac OS X 10.5 ("Leopard"), but not Mac OS X 10.3 ("Panther") or earlier. The main issue with 10.3 has to do with menu support. If you are using 10.3, you may be able to get it to work and, if the menus become disabled, you can use the special Control-Option-Q keyboard shortcut to quit and optionally save your work. Note however, that we may be unable to provide users of unsupported systems with technical support. For the latest compatibility notes with Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, see our tech note: http://www.xowave.com/doc/tech-note/leopard.shtml. Some single-key shortcuts may not show up in the menus. You will have to look in the Settings Dialog's EditKeys tab (Window:Settings) to see all the shortcuts. We are discussing the matter with Apple. In addition, a few keyboard shortcuts, such as arrow keys, may continue to work even inside dialogs. This is strange, but is not harmful. On older Macs with limited graphics hardware, you may experience poor graphics performance. For example, when changing views in the Edit window, the display may flicker or be inconveniently slow. You should be able to get better performance with the following techniques: - Use smaller display sizes for your tracks. - Display only the tracks you actually need. Other changes in Preferences may still enhance drawing performance. For example, we have observed slightly improved performance with "Fill Overview" set to no. Apple's Java has a bug (#4283343) with pop-up menus. When dragging in a pop-up menu that crosses a non-popup menu, the pop-up can deactivate while the underlying menu activates. The workaround is to click and release to activate pop-up menus, then click again to activate the desired item. Apple's Java has a bug with multiple displays (#4429622). Although XO Wave has a workaround for this bug, we believe that the presence of this bug is indicative of larger problems. Therefore, you should avoid adding or removing displays while XO Wave is running. If you want to add or remove a display, you should quit XO Wave, change your display configuration, and then restart XO Wave. Note that XO Wave will automatically offer to re-open the last project used when it is launched. ---- To install XO Wave, simply drag the application to your Applications folder and launch it normally.
