Important Notice: XO Wave will be discontinued in the next few months as we prepare to bring you the next generation Digital Audio Workstation. A discount upgrade path will be available for current users, but not for users who purchase XO Wave after August 31st, 2010. We realize that there are few professional CD mastring options with the full range of capabilities offered by XO Wave, so we will continue to offer the package as long as possible. XO Wave: Edit ModesBy default, XO Wave performs edits to single regions without shifting other regions or memory locations around. With Ripple and Query editing modes, you can do things like move a region, along with all subsequent regions on the same track or tracks. The best way to learn how to use these editing modes is to experiment with them yourself, but some details are provided below. Ripple ModeRipple mode causes all edits to be automatically extended to the end of the track. For example, moving a region towards the end of the session by one second causes all subsequent regions on that track to be moved back by one second as well. It is often useful to apply Ripple mode to a single edit. For this reason, XO Wave allows you to apply Ripple mode to just the next edit, and revert to normal editing afterwards. From normal editing mode, you can enter Ripple Once mode by typing the r key. Typing r twice brings you into Ripple Lock mode, which will Ripple every edit until you turn it off (normally by typing r again). Note: Other programs offer similar editing modes with different names, such as "shuffle" and "bind-right". XO Wave's behavior in Ripple mode is similar to these modes. Query Mode
Query editing causes XO Wave to display a customization dialog for an edit. The Query dialog provides several options not available elsewhere. For example, you may move memory locations along with regions, or Ripple not just the current track, but all tracks. It is often useful to apply Query mode to just one edit. For this reason, XO Wave's Query Once mode (invoked by typing the ? key) Queries on the next edit, and then reverts to Query Off. Typing ? twice brings you into Query Lock mode, which will Query on every edit until you turn it off (typically by typing ? again). Options that may be available during a Query edit include the following:
Note: Other programs offer similar editing modes with different names, such as "spot". XO Wave's Query Mode behavior is similar to these modes.
