XO Wave: Playback Settings

The Playback Settings window allows you to set up playback pre-roll and post-roll, which are used to extend playback past the marked segment. Pre-roll can either be turned off or set to a specific amount, such as 1 second. Post-roll can be turned off, set to a specific amount, or set to "infinite", which causes playback to continue until it is explicitly stopped by the user.

The difference between normal post-roll and end of session post-roll is that end of session post-roll is used when the playback goes through the end of the session, whereas normal post-roll is used when the playback bounds differ.

You can switch between a variety of playback modes described below:

• No Pre-/Post Roll* only plays from the playback start marker to the playback end marker (usually, this is just the area you've selected in the Edit window).
• Pre-Roll Only plays from before the playback start marker up to the start marker.
• Pre-Roll plays back from before the playback start marker until the playback end marker.
• Post-Roll Only plays back the section immediately following the stop marker.
• Post-Roll plays back from the playback start marker past the playback end marker.
• Pre- And Post- Roll* plays back from before the playback start marker past the playback end marker.

The Transport window, as well as the Mix window's Transport Area, offers a pop-up menu to select the desired mode. In the Edit window, the Time menu and Time Area offer quick access to all modes, and you can switch between the two primary modes (marked with asterisks above) with the P key. You can cycle through all modes with Option-P.
