The Playback Settings window allows you to set up playback pre-roll and post-roll, which are used to extend playback past the marked segment. Pre-roll can either be turned off or set to a specific amount, such as 1 second. Post-roll can be turned off, set to a specific amount, or set to "infinite", which causes playback to continue until it is explicitly stopped by the user. The difference between normal post-roll and end of session post-roll is that end of session post-roll is used when the playback goes through the end of the session, whereas normal post-roll is used when the playback bounds differ. You can switch between a variety of playback modes described below:
The Transport window, as well as the Mix window's Transport Area, offers a pop-up menu to select the desired mode. In the Edit window, the Time menu and Time Area offer quick access to all modes, and you can switch between the two primary modes (marked with asterisks above) with the P key. You can cycle through all modes with Option-P.
